Retired police officer is killed during an exchange of gunfire with robbers in the center of Ribeirão Preto

A retired military police officer, identified as Darie Alves Tremura, aged 63, was killed during an attempted robbery on Monday morning, the 12th in the center of Ribeirão Preto. His son Rafael, 36, was also shot.

According to initial information, the crime occurred on Tibiriçá Street, where the victims were working to withdraw money from the public transport card recharging station, when the criminals arrived. The thieves approached the victims who were on a motorcycle and started shooting. They then fled the scene.

A security camera recorded the moment of the shots and shows when Rafael notices the action of one of the bandits, he pulls out his gun and fires shots, while the bandit also shoots. Another bandit appears in the background of the video shooting. The victim's son was also hit by gunfire.

Darie succumbed to her injuries and died. Rafael was rescued and is hospitalized.

The region where the crime occurred was isolated and the Scientific Police were called to carry out forensic work. Images from commercial security cameras should help police identify the killers.
