The alleged “caught” pedophile covers his face, asks “please” not to be scratched, kneels, sucks on the wall and escapes. Then he sends audios asking for “apologies,” saying that he is also “against” pedophilia and that he has a “reputation” to take care of.

Behind the video is Brandon Vives, a 23-year-old young man who claims to have caught the first pedophile in 2010, a tutor at his school. He then set up a YouTube profile and began uploading dozens of messages to men who had supposedly arranged meetings with girls. Many praise it and many others criticize it because they believe that the scenes are armed.

“Elquechuga” was the first “pedophile hunter” in Argentina, but there are many others in the world. The pioneer was Justin Payne, from the United States. The modality was later replicated by Gonzalo Goette, one of the most popular YouTubers in Argentina.

In his networks, Vives shows off his well-worked body and appears as a sort of superhero. In all of his profiles he displays the motto “live fast, die young . ” Security authorities criticize this form of vigilante justice and warn that it can be very dangerous for those who practice it.

“When YouTubers create a false identity, they prevent justice from acting. It's like you want to kill someone but you're going to do it with a toy gun. A process cannot be carried out against that person, beyond his intention. He didn't do anything and couldn't have done anything. The action of these YouTubers does not help justice, on the contrary,” explained the director of the judicial body of the prosecutor's office of the city of Buenos Aires, Enrique del Carril, in an interview.
