A five-year-old boy and several others were injured when a speeding driver collided head-on with a minibus Monday morning.
Firefighters responded to the scene after both drivers were trapped inside their vehicles and had to be extracted. The Fire Service in a statement said both drivers also suffered broken limbs.
Romel Seechanna, 29, was speeding in his Honda Vezel #PAD2018 when he lost control and crashed into the minibus #BHH8451 being driven by Raul Mckenzie of Grove, East Bank Demerara.
The accident occurred within the vicinity of the Ruimveldt Police Station at about 5:25hs. Firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) from the Eccles and Alberttown fire stations responded to the accident.
Additionally, three passengers of the minibus suffered injuries and were examined at the scene by Emergency Medical Technicians and were then conveyed to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
“The patients included a 5-year-old boy and a 31-year-old man, who both suffered minor injuries to their feet. The other patient was a 50-year-old woman who suffered serious injuries, including lacerations and deformity to her lower body,” the Fire Service stated.
