33-year-old security guard died after being shot while working in a bar early this Sunday (18) in Itanhaém, on the coast of São Paulo. Gustavo Adolfo Lopes de Oliveira de Carvalho was shot at least five times and died at the scene.

What happened:

The case took place around 4 am at the Estação Chopp bar, which also functions as a nightclub and is located at Praça Carlos Botelho, in the center of Itanhaém. Security camera footage caught the moment of the shooting.

Leony Lors Defeu and Rafael Rondi de Moraes left the place after getting involved in a mess. The duo returned to the establishment at dawn, was prevented from entering by Gustavo and began to argue with the security guard.

In the images, it is possible to observe that Gustavo pushes Leony, who pulls out a gun and shoots the security guard, who died instantly. A woman who was in the establishment at the time of the shooting was hit in the foot and taken to the hospital, being released shortly afterwards.

The GCM (Metropolitan Civil Guard) was triggered and, at the scene, informed that the suspects were fleeing in a silver Corolla. After reinforcements arrived, the car was accompanied, stopping in a nearby street.

Leony threw the gun out the window as Rafael drove, but the gun was caught by the guards. Both were arrested and have criminal records.

The scene of the crime and the vehicle in which the duo was were investigated. They were arrested red-handed and the case was registered as homicide, drunk driving and bodily injury at the Itanhaém Police Station.

At UOL, the lawyer Rubson Guimarães, who represents Rafael, claimed that the client did not know that Leony, who fired the shots, was armed and that there was no search in the establishment . He attributes what happened to Rafael's misfortune being "in the wrong place at the wrong time".

The bar where Gustavo worked regretted what happened in a post on Instagram, saying that they are "committed to providing all the necessary support to the victim's family". "At this time of grief, our hearts go out to the bereaved family and we express our most sincere condolences."
