Ilya Ivansky, head of the Fresh Auto automotive marketplace service, in an interview with Izvestia, gave advice on how to avoid car icing, and what to do if sub-zero temperatures still affected the condition of the car.
As the specialist noted, in recent years in Russia, cars are increasingly freezing due to such a natural phenomenon as freezing rain, and washing a car in the cold without complete drying and sudden temperature changes at night can also cause icing.

“In order to reduce the risk of freezing of rubber seals on the trunk and doors of a car to its body, it is necessary to periodically treat them with special auto chemicals containing silicone. After trips in sub-zero temperatures, it is worth ventilating the car so that no moist air remains in it. It is always better to keep the windshield dry, especially before a long parking lot, so that the moisture on it does not turn into ice in the cold, ”Ivansky advised.

At the same time, if the car is still icy, you should not use hot water to defrost it - this is fraught with cracks on the glass and damage to the body paintwork.

It is better to use special defrosters and glass cleaning brushes - plastic rather than metal scrapers. However, the best prevention from car icing is to leave it in a garage, in a closed parking lot or at least under a canopy, the auto expert added.

In particular, he advised when choosing tires to focus on the recommendations of the car manufacturer and not to buy tires with a radius that does not match the disks. As the specialist warned, this is fraught not only with tire inefficiency, but also with getting into an accident.
