According to the Union of Passenger Transport Companies of Pernambuco (Urbana-PE), the accident happened on Avenida Bom Jesus, in Ibura, a neighborhood in the South Zone of Recife. The bus belonged to the Metropolitana company and ran the "Zumbi do Pacheco/Tancredo Neves" route. The victim was identified only as Carlos André. After the collision, the bus driver called the authorities and a Metropolitana supervisor went to the scene. According to Urbana, all of the vehicle's side windows and front windows were stoned while the forensic team from the Criminalistics Institute (IC) was on its way to the scene.
