Disturbing new video shows the moment a man licked his own blood following self inflicted bite wounds while tripping on bath salts in Spain.
The incident took place on January 1 in the town of Cehegín in Murcia, according to local reports.
The 32-year-old man of Moroccan descent had to be treated for his injuries after officials said he ingested methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV), also known as the “cannibal drug”.
MDPV acts as a stimulant and has been reported to produce effects similar to those of cocaine, methylphenidate, and amphetamines.
High doses have been observed to cause intense, prolonged panic attacks in stimulant-intolerant users, and anecdotal reports of psychosis when consumed at higher or more frequent dosing intervals.
When tested on mice, repeated exposure to MDPV caused anxiety, social isolation and increased aggressive behavior, a characteristic that has already been observed in humans.
