Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz (Vanguardia de Veracruz).- On the afternoon of Thursday, September 12, two people were shot to death while they were socializing inside the “Directy Bar” snack bar in the port of Coatzacoalcos, just a few days before the traditional Grito de Independencia.

The events occurred around 4:00 p.m. at the aforementioned business, located on Juárez Street between Pedro Moreno and Abasolo, in the Manuel Ávila Camacho neighborhood.

According to information from nearby neighbors, at least six gunshots were reported inside the bar. The motive for this double homicide is still unknown, but it appears that the attack was directed against both male victims.

The bloody attack provoked an intense police mobilization, from state, federal and municipal corporations.

Although emergency units from the Red Cross and Civil Protection arrived, they could do nothing, since the men who received the treacherous shooting attack no longer had vital signs.

Forensic Services personnel carried out the procedures for the removal of the bodies that were sent to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo), awaiting their identification and the request of their remains by their families.


This brings the total number of people murdered so far in 2024 to 41, 36 males and 5 females.
