A woman, who has been identified as Doreen Haynes of Golden Grove, lost her life this afternoon in an accident that was caught on camera in Water Street, Georgetown.

The video recording showed the woman standing on the outside of a parked pick-up talking to someone on the inside, when as the truck drove pass her, it squeezed her into the pick up as the truck driver pulled to the left.

The woman's body was pitched onto the roadway, and it appeared as though the left back wheel of the truck ran over her body.

The driver of the truck stopped immediately, while other persons, including the person she was talking to in the pick-up, rushed to offer help, but it appeared too late.

She was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The traffic department has been pleading with drivers and other road users to be vigilant and careful as they use the country's roadways. There has been an upsurge in deadly road accidents since the start of the year.
