A man from the municipality of Choix lost his life this Saturday afternoon, while he was at a horse race in the San Javier syndicate.

Apparently he was under the influence of alcohol and got into the track to see how the horses were approaching when he was run over and caused the jockey to end up in serious condition.

The man who lost his life was identified as Sergio Veliz Cabrera, who lived in the community of Tepehuaje, in the aforementioned municipality of Sierreño.

The accident took place this Saturday afternoon in the Taste de San Javier, where horse races are traditionally held every year after the end of the Jewish bullfight during Holy Week.

According to some videos recorded by those who were at the tacuachadas, two men entered the track to see the moment when the horses were approaching.

But just at that moment one of the horses ran over a man, and then fell along with the rider. Subsequently both men rolled down the taste track along with the animal.

The injured men were helped by Red Cross paramedics, however, the Tepehuaje died on the way to the Choix comprehensive hospital, while the rider, who suffered serious injuries, was taken to Los Mochis to a public hospital.
