Hulu Selangor: A husband and wife died after the motorcycle they were riding crashed into a four-wheel drive vehicle that was stopped in the emergency lane at Kilometer 415.1 of the North-South Highway (PLUS), Beringin Valley to Bukit Tagar, here, today.

In the incident at 11.05 am, the two victims aged 36 and 38 who were riding a Yamaha NMAX were thrown and hit a car passing by the location.

Hulu Selangor District Police Chief, Superintendent Ahmad Faizal Tahrim said, as a result of preliminary investigations, it was found that the husband and wife were on their way from Kamunting, Perak to Kuala Lumpur, believed to be returning on holiday.

"Upon arrival, the two victims are suspected not to have noticed the Mitsubishi Trition that stopped in the emergency lane due to damage.

"The motorcycle then hit the back of a four-wheel drive vehicle causing them to be thrown on the right side of the road and hit a Toyota Vios that was passing through the scene," he said in a statement tonight.

Ahmad Faizal said that the couple, who were seriously injured in the head and body, were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to him, the post-mortem process will be carried out at Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital.

"The police are asking the public to pass on information regarding this accident to help with the investigation.

"The case is investigated according to Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987," he said.
