A watermelon kiosk employee at Kramat Jati Main Market, East Jakarta became a murder victim, Monday (8/1/2024) in the morning at around 01.00 WIB

The victim, named Sutomo, died from serious injuries after experiencing violence with a sharp weapon such as a sickle on several parts of his body resulting in bleeding.

Apart from that, the victim was also injured allegedly as a result of being splashed with acid.

In the CCTV footage from the watermelon stall at the location, the perpetrator was seen wearing a beanie and a face covering, suddenly pouring liquid suspected to be acid onto the victim's neck, shoulders and head.

It is suspected that the liquid contained acid because during the incident the victim was immediately in pain, and a number of watermelon rinds around the stall appeared to be blistered by the splash.

The victim, who was trying to avoid and endure the pain caused by acid, was immediately stabbed 4 times with a sickle. The victim was rushed to Harapan Bunda Hospital but finally breathed his last breath allegedly due to loss of blood.

After carrying out the action, the perpetrator immediately ran away. There is a strong suspicion that this case was triggered by jealousy, but to be clear, the local police are still carrying out investigations and investigation. The victim's body was then moved to the National Police Hospital for an autopsy.
