The deceased child, Basavachetan, was the son of Satish Patil and Sangita, residents of Harogeri.
According to the retrieved CCTV footage, the boy was playing on a roadside by himself alongside a parked vehicle when an Innova car took a turn and ran him over before fleeing the scene. The boy's parents and locals rushed to the scene, but the boy was dead by then.
The toddler's father even tried to run after the car, but to no avail.
A case has been registered at Gandhiganj police station in the matter.
