Security cameras at a snack bar in Aparecida (SP) recorded the moment a car broke into the establishment and ran over a couple of customers - watch above.

The driver, who left the scene without rendering aid, was identified in the police report as Josimar Araújo Santos. She admitted to drinking alcohol and said she had taken medication hours before the accident.

The images show a man and a woman sitting at a table in the store, when the vehicle invades the place, breaking the glass door, and advances on the couple, who are run over.

Josimar even opens the car door after the crash and speaks to the victims, before reversing and leaving the scene without providing any assistance.

According to the police report, the case happened last Sunday (17), at a snack bar in Padre Vitor Coelho de Almeida square.

The victims were identified as Luis Demetrio Jose Reis, 51, and Adriana Caprio Reis, 50. In contact with g1, the couple's son said that the man broke both his legs and received several stitches in his body, but was discharged on Monday afternoon (18).

The woman is in the ICU at Taubaté Regional Hospital. The victim broke his right leg and had an open fracture in his left leg. She also suffered serious trauma to her abdomen.

In an interview with Rede Vanguarda, Luis Demetrio explained the accident and spoke about the fright he felt when he was hit by a car.

"We stopped for a snack because she (the wife) had just got off work, she was hungry. And out of nowhere I just saw her screaming and I felt an impact on my back. I didn't see anything. It was the hand of God there that protected me. It protected me from the impact of the chair and pulled me to the side. She was pinned against the counter.

The Military Police were called to attend to the incident and, when they arrived at the eatery, the couple had already been rescued and taken to health units.

At the scene, the police found that the driver of the car did not provide any assistance to the victims and fled the establishment. Officers even looked for the man, but couldn't find him.

On Monday (18), the police received an anonymous tip-off that the car was parked on Rua Nenzinho Macedo, in the Ponte Alta neighborhood, in the same city.

The police went to the location and found the vehicle. The officers then managed to find Josimar, with the help of his daughter.

The man was taken to the police station and admitted that he had consumed alcohol shortly before causing the accident. He will be released on charges of culpable bodily injury, failure to render aid and fleeing the scene of an accident.
