In Chesterfield County, Virginia, 23-year-old Jose Hernandez pleaded guilty to two charges related to a shooting incident at a Cook Out restaurant drive-thru.
The incident occurred on July 31, 2022, when Hernandez, driving a blue Toyota sedan, shot a gun through the car door at a drive-thru worker after receiving his order.
The shooting was captured on video, which also showed Hernandez shattering his own window in the process before driving away.
The employee was injured and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Hernandez pleaded guilty to shooting into an occupied building and reckless handling of a firearm resulting in serious bodily injury.
His attorney claimed that Hernandez was playing with the gun in his car when it unintentionally discharged. Hernandez also stated that the gun was not his.
He was due back in court on May 25, 2023.
