A school teacher was murdered inside a bus in Guayaquil



Two young men wearing school uniforms shot the teacher, who had resisted an assault on the bus where he was traveling.



The Network of Educators of Ecuador issued a statement in which it regretted the murder of Professor Galo Simón Balseca Cruz, who received two gunshot wounds while traveling on a bus in Guayaquil. The incident occurred on a bus on line 132, on the night of December 1, when the teacher was returning home after teaching classes at the Leonidas García school.



At the height of Mount Sinai, in the northwest of the city, two individuals got on the bus and began to rob the users, with a firearm. According to witnesses, those involved were dressed in school uniforms. Balseca, who allegedly resisted the assault, was shot twice by the young people. At the request of the users, the bus driver went with the injured man to a health home, where minutes later his death was confirmed.



The body of the 56-year-old man was taken to the Judicial Police facilities to comply with legal procedures. On the morning of December 2, his relatives arrived at the site. “We will always keep your memory with great affection and we will not forget your teachings,” highlights the statement sent by the Educators Network. Balseca served as a professor of physics and chemistry for the last 20 years.
