In Transcarpathia, a little girl was crushed by a truck because of her drunken mother (video)

In Transcarpathia, a one-and-a-half-year-old girl fell under the wheels of a truck and died because of her drunk mother, who was distracted. This is  reported by the regional police.

The tragedy happened on November 9 at around 16:20 in the village of Yasinya, Rakhiv district. On a local road, a 57-year-old driver of the "Ural" truck, a resident of the village of Chorna Tysa, ran over a minor child.

Law enforcement officers interviewed eyewitnesses, watched surveillance video and found out that a 32-year-old local woman was walking along this street with her one-and-a-half-year-old child.

When the woman got distracted and stopped following the child, the girl went onto the road, where she got under the wheels of a truck.

The child was hospitalized at the scene of the incident in the intensive care unit of the local hospital. However, she died from her injuries.

The driver was examined - the man was sober behind the wheel. The driver was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed in a temporary detention facility.

According to the fact of violation of traffic safety rules, which led to the death of the victim, the investigators entered information into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations pursuant to Part 2 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Police officers also examined the mother of the dead child: 1.7 ppm of alcohol was recorded in her blood.

Since the woman was in a state of alcohol intoxication, her actions were qualified by the police as a malicious failure of the parents to take care of the child, which caused serious consequences (Article 166 of the Criminal Code). The maximum punishment that threatens the woman is up to 5 years of imprisonment.
