A 16-year-old school student has lost his life after being hit by a train near the flyover in Mulgampola area, Kandy, Sri Lanka.
Police say that the student has died after being hit by the train travelling from Badulla to Kandy yesterday (March 26. afternoon.
The deceased, a resident of Madabowala, Kandy has been identified as a 10th year student of Kingswood College named Sayuru Gunathilaka.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that the accident occurred as the student was crossing the railway tracks instead of using the flyover where pedestrians travel, while using his mobile phone (music).
The body of the student has been placed in the mortuary of Kandy Teaching Hospital.
Kandy Police is conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
