City Police personnel were patrolling the streets of Saavedra when they heard the screams of a woman asking for help because her life was in danger: her ex-partner threatened her with a firearm and shot her twice. She miraculously saved his life from him. One of the uniformed men quickly got out of the truck and called out, but since the assailant did not stop and ran to the victim, he fired with his service pistol. The attacker was left lying on the street, wounded.
It all happened today at 11:36 a.m. in Superí 4200, in Saavedra. The case is investigated by the Buenos Aires criminal and correctional judge Patricia Guichandut and by the prosecutor José María Campagnoli . The attack by the assailant and the shots by the City Police officer were recorded on a security camera footage.
“The victim miraculously saved his life. The assailant arrived shot twice,” a police source told LA NACION .
City Police sources reported that personnel from the Rapid Intervention Deployment Division (DIR) who were patrolling the streets of Saavedra intervened in the case. This is one of the units that is being trained to carry Taser electric shock pistols in the coming days, according to what the Buenos Aires Minister of Justice and Security, Eugenio Burzaco, told LN+, who praised the work of the uniformed men who saved the lives of the woman threatened by her ex-partner.
"The personnel who were touring the Saavedra neighborhood saw a young woman, shouting, walking away from a man who was pointing a firearm at her head," explained the spokespersons consulted.
The suspect ran to the victim while pointing his weapon at her, a 32-caliber revolver. According to police sources, he fired two shots.
“The first officer who intervened, who was the driver of the truck, called out for the man to stop his attitude and hand over the weapon, but he did not stop aiming at the woman, for which the policeman fired four times. Three of the projectiles hit the assailant's body, one in the buttocks area, another in the right leg and the third in the right arm," police sources explained.
An ambulance from the Emergency Medical Care Service (SAME) transferred the suspect, identified as Julián Alberto Reina, 39, to the Pirovano hospital.
Instead, the victim was taken by SAME to the Zubizarreta hospital, where she was treated by the mental health team because she was suffering from a "panic attack" , according to official information. A few hours after the assault, the woman was discharged.
As the City Police could reconstruct, for a few days, Reina harassed her ex-partner, identified by the initials DP, 29 years old.
"From the information we have, the victim had not filed complaints for gender violence and did not have a panic button either," police sources explained.
