One man had to undergo several surgeries after being gored by a bull, while others suffered minor injuries.

A man survived the gorings he received from a bull on Monday afternoon in the celebration of a corraleja in the municipality of Sabanagrande, Atlántico, on the occasion of the patron saint festivities in honor of the Virgin of Las Mercedes.

From the images that can be seen in a video, the worst was feared about the health of this man, who arrived from the municipality of Campo de la Cruz, Atlántico, entered the bullfighting area, apparently because he was in a state of intoxication.

This person was identified as William Hurtado and due to the severity of the injuries he had to undergo several surgeries at the Campbell Clinic on 30th Street in Barranquilla and according to the medical report he is out of danger.

"The images made us believe something very serious, even commenting on the death of the young man, but the medical part that we met in the early hours of this Tuesday, after being operated on at the Campbell Clinic on 30th Street, tells us that the surgery came out well,” said Gustavo De la Rosa, mayor of the municipality of Sabanagrande.

The municipal president said that the events of the patron saint festivities of the population were fine, “except for these videos, which are very strong, which were presented during the corraleja, which will allow us to evaluate whether or not Sabanagrande deserves to continue with this type of practice. . Personally, I don't like it and so much so that I didn't attend any of the four days of corraleja because personally I don't share this type of practice”.

He stated that the permit was granted because the organizers complied with the requirements of the law. “They presented their proposal and we submitted it for evaluation in a Security Committee, a risk management committee and a public order committee. We did not want to intervene and perhaps we were a bit tied up by the two years we had a pandemic. I think it will be evaluated for future events of this type.”
